Privacy Policy for EPUB Reader
Effective date:** August 27, 2026
**Last updated:** August 27, 2026
EPUB Reader is provided by **PODEI** (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains how EPUB Reader accesses and handles information
when you use the Android application.
## 1. Privacy at a glance
EPUB Reader is designed as a private, offline reader.
- No account or registration is required.
- We do not operate a server that receives your books or reading activity.
- We do not upload your books, documents, annotations, or library to our cloud.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use your information for advertising or profiling.
- The app does not contain third-party advertising, analytics, tracking, or
crash-reporting SDKs.
## 2. Information processed on your device
To provide its reading and library features, EPUB Reader processes the following
information locally on your device:
- books and documents that you choose to open, including supported EPUB, PDF,
TXT, and HTML files;
- document information such as the file name, title, author, format, size,
storage location, and cover image where available;
- library information such as favorites, collections, reading lists, and reading
status;
- reading information such as your current position, progress, bookmarks, and
other annotations you create;
- reader preferences such as theme, font, text size, brightness, margins, and
gesture settings; and
- references to files or folders that you explicitly select through Android's
system file picker.
This information is used only to provide app functionality on your device. It is
not transmitted to us.
## 3. Files, folders, and device access
EPUB Reader uses Android's system file-selection features, including the Storage
Access Framework, to let you choose individual documents or folders. The app
accesses only the files or locations that you select or otherwise explicitly
open with the app.
Android may allow the app to retain access to a selected file or folder so the
book remains available in your library after the app or device restarts. You can
remove a folder from the library or revoke the app's access through your Android
device settings.
EPUB Reader does not require access to your contacts, precise location,
microphone, camera, call history, or messages for its reading features.
## 4. Data collection and sharing
EPUB Reader does not transmit personal data, book contents, reading history, or
app-usage information to us or to third parties.
We do not sell, rent, disclose, or share your personal information for
advertising, marketing, analytics, or profiling.
If a future version introduces any feature that transmits information off your
device, this Privacy Policy and the app's Google Play Data Safety declaration
will be updated before that feature is released.
## 5. Actions you initiate
Some Android features let you send or open content in another app. For example,
you may choose to share a quotation, export a note, open a link, or select a file
from a third-party document provider. EPUB Reader transfers content in these
cases only when you initiate the action and choose the destination.
The receiving application, document provider, storage service, email service, or
website handles information under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not
control third-party services.
Google Play, Android, your device manufacturer, or your chosen storage provider
may independently process technical, purchase, backup, or account information
under their own privacy policies. EPUB Reader does not receive that information
unless you separately send it to us.
## 6. Local storage, retention, and deletion
Library records, reading progress, bookmarks, collections, and preferences
remain on your device until you remove them, clear the app's storage, or
uninstall EPUB Reader.
Removing a book from the app's library does not delete the original file unless
you explicitly choose a file-deletion action and Android grants the required
permission. Files stored outside the app may remain on your device after the app
is uninstalled.
EPUB Reader does not provide developer-operated cloud backup or synchronization.
Your Android device, device manufacturer, or selected storage provider may
perform backups according to your system settings and its own terms.
Because we do not receive your local library or reading data, we cannot access,
restore, or delete it remotely.
## 7. Support communications
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you voluntarily provide,
such as your email address, message, and any attachments. We use it only to
respond to your request, provide support, maintain security, or comply with
applicable law.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for
those purposes and is then deleted unless longer retention is legally required.
Our email provider may process these communications under its own privacy
policy. We do not sell support-contact information or use it for advertising.
You may ask us to delete support correspondence that we still hold, subject to
applicable legal requirements, by contacting us at the address below.
## 8. Security
EPUB Reader uses Android's application sandbox and user-controlled file access
to limit access to local content. We design the app to minimize permissions and
keep reading information on the device.
No storage method or device can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are
responsible for maintaining the security of your device, screen lock, backups,
and files.
## 9. Children's privacy
EPUB Reader is a general-audience reading tool and is not directed specifically
to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from
children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a
support request, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
## 10. International data transfers
EPUB Reader does not transfer your local books, library information, or reading
activity to us in any country. If you contact us for support, your message may be
processed in the countries where we and our email provider operate, subject to
applicable safeguards and law.
## 11. Your choices and rights
You control the files and folders EPUB Reader can access. You can remove books
or folders from the library, revoke file access in Android settings, clear local
app data, or uninstall the app.
Because we do not hold your on-device reading data, requests to access, correct,
export, or delete that data must be carried out on your device. For personal
information contained in support communications, you may contact us to exercise
any rights available under applicable privacy law.
## 12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our practices, or applicable
requirements change. We will publish the revised policy and update the “Last
updated” date. If a change materially affects how information is handled, we
will provide additional notice where required.
